چکیده
We give asymptotically sharp upper bounds for the maximum diameter and radius of (i) a connected graph, {ii) a connected trangle-free graph, (iii) a connected C,-free graph with n vertices and with minimum degree 6, where n tends to infinity. Some conjectures for J&-free graphs are also stated. Let G be a connected graph with vertex set V(G) and edge set E(G). For any XJJ E V(G) let dG(x,y) denote the distance between x and y, i.e., the minimum length of an x-y path in G. The diameter and the radius of G are defined as The following theorem answers a question of Gallai [6]. THEOREM 1. Let G be a connected graph M*ith n vertices and with minimum degree 6 2 2. Then (ii) diam G< &-1.

Diameter Two Graphs of Minimum Order with Given Degree Set
The degree set of a graph is the set of its degrees. Kapoor et al. [Degree sets for graphs, Fund. Math. 95 (1977) 189-194] proved that for every set of positive integers, there exists a graph of diameter at most two and radius one with that degree set. Furthermore, the minimum order of such a graph is determined. A graph is 2-self- centered if its radius and diameter are two. In this paper for ...
متن کاملNew bounds on proximity and remoteness in graphs
The average distance of a vertex $v$ of a connected graph $G$is the arithmetic mean of the distances from $v$ to allother vertices of $G$. The proximity $pi(G)$ and the remoteness $rho(G)$of $G$ are defined as the minimum and maximum averagedistance of the vertices of $G$. In this paper we investigate the difference between proximity or remoteness and the classical distanceparameters diameter a...
متن کاملOn the Number of Minimum Cuts in a Graph
We relate the number of minimum cuts in a weighted undirected graph with various structural parameters of the graph. In particular, we provide upper bounds for the number of minimum cuts in terms of the radius, diameter, minimum degree, maximum degree, chordality, girth, and some other parameters of the graph.
متن کاملOrientable Strong Radius and Diameter of Hypercube
For two vertices u, v in a strong digraph D, the strong distance sd(u, v) between u and v is the minimum size of a strong subdigraph of D containing u and v. The upper (lower) orientable strong radius SRAD(G) of a graph G is the maximum (minimum) strong radius over all strong orientations of G. The upper (lower) orientable strong diameter SDIAM(G) of a graph G is the maximum (minimum) strong di...
متن کاملThe Center and Periphery of Composite Graphs
The center (periphery) of a graph is the set of vertices with minimum (maximum) eccentricity. In this paper, the structure of centers and peripheries of some classes of composite graphs are determined. The relations between eccentricity, radius and diameter of such composite graphs are also investigated. As an application we determine the center and periphery of some chemical graphs such as nan...
